Madron Daniel Nursery

Madron Daniel C of E School Pre-school and Nursery

Opening times:

8:45 -3pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays

8:45 - 11:45am Fridays

Our pre-school takes children aged 2-4 years.  The morning sessions typically cater for children 3-4 years and the afternoon sessions for children 2-3 years, however full days are also possible if required.

The nursery is run by the school Governors and is inspected alongside the main school. We are therefore eligible for 3 and 4 year old funding from the government.  This means that from the term following your child's third birthday they are entitled to 15 funded hours per week, during term-time.

You may also be eligible for 2 year old funding or 30 hour funding depending on your circumstances.

To check if you are eligible for either of these, please visit:

Childcare and funding - Cornwall Council

The school and pre-school have a real family atmosphere.  We are a village nursery with a small class which allows staff to really get to know your child individually.  This ensures that activities and resources are tailored to your child, to challenge and interest them, supporting their needs and building on their successes.  We believe in developing each child’s potential through structured play sessions, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated learning opportunities based on their interests.  Our aim is that children learn whilst having fun!

We have our own outdoor space which is separate from the main school playground.  We are also lucky enough to have a large school field and a garden area with allotments, allowing for plenty of opportunities for outdoor learning.

Our classroom is situated within the main school building and has close links with the reception class, which supports the seamless transition to school.

Fees

£4.60 per hour.

Staff

Our Pre-school and Nursery is managed by Sarah Hawthorn, a qualified teacher, specialising in early years education.  We also have an experienced, full-time TA - Grace Holt.

Training in all areas of child development is ongoing for each member of staff, maintaining a highly qualified workforce.

Staff ratios

1:8 (3 years and above)

1:4 (2 year olds)

Key Persons

Each member of staff acts as a 'key person' responsible for a specific group of children, monitoring their needs and recording their achievements.  We use an online platform - Tapestry, to keep you informed of your child's learning in relation to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.  We also have 'Busy Books' for each child, which is full of photos detailing your child's memorable moments.

Curriculum Statement

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, which is organised into four themes:

A unique child

Positive relationships

Enabling environments

Learning and development

Inclusion

The Pre School and Nursery is open and accessible to all children irrespective of disability, ethnicity and culture/religion.

Parents/Carers

You are the children's first and most important educators.  When parents and staff work together in an ‘early years’ setting, the results have a positive impact on the child's development and learning.  Therefore, in our nursery, we aim to develop an effective partnership with you, allowing the child to benefit from our cooperation and encouraging a two-way flow of information, knowledge and expertise.

Please feel free to speak to any member of staff should you have any concerns or comments regarding the well-being or learning of your child.

Admissions

To enrol your child in either our Pre-school or Nursery, please ask for an application form.  We may require a photocopy of your child's birth certificate for admission purposes.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
